"Music is a central part of basic education. It represents the syntheses where order and reason heighten both spirit and emotion. It constitutes one of the highest pleasures that mankind has produced in its ceaseless quest for civilization. It has the power to shape individuals and societies."

welcome

to the Lower Merion High School Music Department Home Page. Lower Merion High School has a high-quality music department with very high standards. Certain Ensembles compete yearly in competitions all over. In the 1995-1996 school year the Concert Choir went to Disney World and sang on the "floating dock" in Epcot Center. In the 1996-1997 school year the Orchestra won many prestigious awards at the Toronto Canada Ovations Music Festival. This page is to give information about the various ensembles and music classes Lower Merion offers and is a contact page for any upcoming or already existing Lower Merion High School students who wish to participate in any of Lower Merion's various musical ensembles. NOTE: Music is there for anyone to enjoy and participate in. If you do not play a musical instrument, you can still join concert choir. The LMHS Music Department does not exclude anyone and all are enocuraged to see the concerts. If you are a Lower Merion High School Student and never before thought about joining an ensemble, seriously consider it. There is an ensemble for anyone.
